Charles is a Chartered Engineer with over 30 years’ experience in civil and structural engineering. His technical experience extends across a wide variety of sectors including infrastructure, residential, rail and commercial.
Charles has led design teams from inception through to delivery and acted as a Project Manager/Director and Designer for a number of multidisciplinary projects incorporating architectural, structural and MEP teams. His technical knowledge includes reinforced concrete structures, multi-storey structures, retaining structures, deep basements, foundations, steel framing, structural surveys and the forensic investigation of building defects and the remediation .
He has been involved with health and safety aspects of a variety of projects acting Planning Supervisor/CDM Coordinator from when CDM regulations were first introduced and recently as Principle Designer under the CDM Regs.
Throughout his career he has gained considerable expertise of the detailed analysis and design of complex structures in all materials.
Charles possesses a well-developed commercial appreciation of the construction industry and has been responsible for managing fee proposals and bids for a variety of projects. He has worked with challenging clients and is able to address client/stakeholder concerns whilst continuing to progress the project and meet challenging deadlines and requirements.
Charles has been instructed to produce expert witness reports throughout his career. Such reports have included investigating and reporting on building defects, identifying the cause of the defects and proposing remedial actions.
