William is an experienced delay analyst, project planning specialist and project manager.
He has over 25 years of construction industry experience since graduating with a BEng in Civil Engineering in 1994. He has developed his practical knowledge of the construction industry and associated management skills working principally for major building and civil engineering firms, on a broad range of significant projects and contract forms. He advanced from Site Engineer to Project Manager before specialising as a Planner and progressing to Head of Planning for a major contractor, where he was responsible for overseeing all planning functions from inception to completion and beyond, whilst developing and implementing ‘best practice’ planning procedures.
William complemented his extensive project experience by gaining a LLM in Construction Law from the University of Strathclyde, and he is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
William has worked for Employers, Contractors and Subcontractors; dealing with a wide range of complex claims both up and down the supply chain. His direct experience of live project work and of the key construction and engineering processes ensures his work is grounded in the practical knowledge that delivers a sensible and pragmatic outcome.
William has worked with clients across the UK, Ireland, Europe and the USA on delay and contractual matters, his expert reports in relation to construction, engineering, infrastructure and industrial projects have been used in adjudication, arbitration, mediation and the high court. He understands the need to effectively communicate analysis outcomes to ensure that any assessment provided can be readily understood and considered.
William has also lectured widely, delivering bespoke training sessions and presentations for the SCL, Lawyers, Employers and Contractors on topics such as concurrency, delay analysis techniques, time management on live projects and contractual programme compliance (as required by FIDIC, NEC3 and NEC4).
