Biography

David is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with a postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies and a postgraduate Diploma in Arbitration and has over 30 years’ experience in the building, civil engineering, mechanical and electrical sectors in the UK, Republic of Ireland and Middle East.

David trained as a quantity surveyor with a national firm of contractors. Over a 10 year period David gained experience of various forms of procurement, different main contracts and sub-contracts, and carried out a full range of quantity surveying and commercial management duties on a wide range of projects. David also closed out projects that had financial problems; undertook damage limitation exercises; prepared contractual claims and provided assistance during Arbitration and Conciliation proceedings.

Since 1998 David has spent over 20 years providing specialist commercial and contractual consultancy services to the construction industry. This includes providing commercial and contractual advice, undertaking performance audits, preparing and defending extension of time and loss and/or expense claims, representing parties in Adjudication and Mediation as well as being a Quantum Expert.

As a Quantum Expert David has received instructions on circa 25 cases, the first being in 2001. David has attended Expert Meetings, prepared Joint Statements and Expert Reports and provided opinion on various matters including reasonableness of interim valuations, valuation of variations and defects, prolongation and disruption costs and professional fees. David has also provided oral testimony in the TCC (London) as a Witness of Fact on a case where he was the Quantum Expert.
